A Princess, a Blue Paladin, a powerful Alchemist, and some call her, Lion Goddess, is standing somewhere in the outskirts of Nexus.
That is, she's standing in front of the Atlas, looking up at it. She seems to be waiting.
In fact, she is waiting. Knowing that sooner or later, he'll come by, here. And then, he comes.
Hiroki Shirogane was just going to see if everything's alright with Atlas, and then, he see her there. Her. He stops. Deer in the headlights. And just stares at her. Not moving at all, as if, if he doesn't move, maybe she won't see him standing there, several meters away from the robot, now. But she sees him.
Look him straight in the eyes, and now, he's trembling. He closes his eyes, his heart beating faster, now. He's seen how she threw Lotor to the ground, so hard that the man hasn't woken up through the whole journey with him to Lotor's mother (not that Lotor would call her that). Hiroki Shirogane is ready for the same kind of treatment - and honestly, he deserves it, doesn't he?
He opens his eyes only when he feels her hug him. And can't believe what he's feeling. So he opens his eyes to see.
***********
Allura hopes he can forgive her. There wasn't enough of him back then to save him, she knew that - but clearly she had been wrong, if he was standing here right now. Clearly he's survived enough. And she had taken his body from him and given it to Shiro. But what could she have done?
"Hiroki Shiro," she says, still embracing him, "I'm sorry. If I've made a mistake."
She looks at him. He's staring at her, flabbergasted, and she finds himself wishing he'd say something. But she gives him time.
"I..." Hiroki stumbles over the words, "No, Allura, I'm sorry, I've tried to kill you, I've tried to kill of you!!"
"That was Honerva, taking over your body and mind. Not you," Allura says. "You think I don't know by now?"
"But how can you forgive me? I've tried to kill the whole team! I don't even know how you all survived?! I don't..." he trails off.
Oh! So that was the problem, huh? Allura wondered. Well, there was a solution to that.
"Do you trust me?" she asks.
"What?"
"Do you trust me? With yourself?" she asks again.
He nods.
She touches the back of Hiroki's head and sends him a memory, her own memory, of what's happened back then, after he left.
"Pidge..." he mutters, after a moment.
"Pidge," Allura says, smiling softly.
He smiles, too.
"Pidge's amazing," he says.
"I knew you wouldn't be offended," Allura says.
"Well, how could I be? I've tried to kill her and everyone, after all, I'm glad she has countermeasures for that."
"Exactly."
They laugh, together, and maybe cry a little, too. It's good to be back.
"So, thanks to Pidge I'm not a murderer... just because of that it's alright to forgive me...?" he asks, after a moment.
Allura frowns, and then, lightly pushes him to the ground. Forgetting a little how weak humans are, because he falls down hard on his bottom.
At least he's still conscious.
"Yes," she says. "I forgive you."
"O-okay, I won't argue that, anymore."
"Good."
And she helps him up. She grins. It's good to meet him again. Or... for the first time as own person? No, he's always been his own person, his own newest and youngest ever Black Paladin, even if neither of them knew that at the time. So... to meet again.
"Your mice took good care of me when I was... suddenly a child again."
"They've told me."
"Thank you. Hmm... I was a bit scared of them."
"Hiroki Shiro, they're tiny."
"So? Tiny and ferocious. I could well be terrified."
And they laugh again. Just a little. It is good to be back.
