Perhaps Alteans had it easier finding places to hide on on other planets. Our physiological needs aren't too high, I think.
Your people probably have it even harder, than, if life needs are very specific. I'm sorry to hear that. I'd like to help your people find some planet to settle. Maybe without Voltron.
[Since these people are pacifistic.]
I can do that without any weapons.
[She smiles a little and lightly touches Aletayria's hand, just a brush, hoping to convey a comforting gesture, but unsure how Antheans are with those. Every species is different about it, after all.]
[Afterwards, the princess has another question, just out of curiosity.]
It's more than simply the environment. Entering other universes poses a problem for disease risks for us, though maybe our universes are parallel enough that a planet in yours will also exist in ours.
[That was worth consideration. She leans into the contact. Her own species always offering physical gestures as part of communication.
The question in return gets a thoughtful look.]
The fabrics we wear are thin and soft. They serve more to protect us from the sun and ornament the body that keep us warm. We are used to temperatures most humans would consider cold. We like bright colors and bold patterns either in tightly fitted jumpsuits or loose flowing materials.
{Allura nods. It all makes sense. Realities differ, to varies degrees... she knows that now much better than she ever did when she took her first trip to another reality.]
[I've seen so many Realities now... it's terrifying, if I think on that too much. So many. I wonder if Honerva ever felt such a fear upon first seeing so many, too. Never mind]
[And it'd make sense that even diseases could be different, a bit, from one Reality to another.]
Somehow, it seems that everybody and everything from Earth is adverse to low temperatures. I remember when we first found Shiro's clone, not that we knew he was a clone, the Paladins were all worried about him potentially having something they called hypothermia. Fortunately, it turned out he didn't have any thermia or anything.
As an Altean, I didn't even know about such possibilities before. Not that Altean knowledge or lack thereof has any bearing on him having it or not, I just simply found the subject fascinating when everybody explained it to me.
Not quite relatedly, do Anthens get what humans jokingly call brain freeze? Because Alteans don't. And I was curious.
Thin and soft, hm? That sounds lovely.
I like bright colours, too. I have plenty of white and light blue and light green dresses.
My mother always loved to wear pink colours. So many called her a bit morbid for that. Or stuffy. Even though she wasn't. Ah, I should explain. On Altea, one wears pink when mourning someone. But that doesn't have to be the only reason.
We get cold eventually but the average temperature on our planet would be considered cold to a human. We are more likely to get hyperthermia which is negative effects from the temperature being too high.
What is brain freeze?
We don't have associations between colors and death. Sounds are related to death in my culture more than colors.
[The Princess nods. All of this is quite logical to her, too.]
Earthlings get a 'brain freeze' when they consume something cold too fast. Which is why my dear Paladins were weirded out that Coran and I don't have such issues. I think it's some temporary and very uncomfortable cold feeling deep inside, that 'brain freeze'. Oh, I always eat foods I like way too fast, my nanny used to scold me. But temperature, unless very much in extremes, is mostly an afterthought to an Altean. I've learnt a lot about the importance of temperature from people of other species. So now I try to always be mindful of it.
Coran and Romelle still aren't so mindful of it. I don't think they've noticed too much.
We have a problem like this with hot drinks. It makes us feel queasy and uncomfortable because it raises our body temperature. It might be a similar feeling but from cold. I'll have to ask my husband if he experiences brain freeze.
Oh, so humans must have problems with cold drinks, because they lower their temperatures. Human temperature, when it's right, in their degrees, whatever those are exactly, is circa thirty seven. Even a bit lower than that, relatively, and they could die! Lance and Shiro told me and Coran that, once.
But... that's not right. Shiro's temperature was so, so much lower than that when we found him after his second escape. Much, much lower. Twenty degrees if I remember right? Keith was taking his temperature and other data while saving him, and he said that, twenty one degrees or something, yes. And then Keith said, I guess my thermometer's broken, don't worry about it. Because unlike me, Shiro's a human being, so how...?
Yeah, I remember now. And I guess, I keep calling both 'Shiro', when just now, I actually was talking about HirokiShiro. Who is not quite a human being, I guess, which I don't mind, but Hiroki would. Even though he's not prejudiced... about anybody but Haggar and himself. Huh. And Dark Entities. Which is... actually what he might be made of, in a way. Of them and of Shiro. So that's what he is deep inside.
I don't mind that, but he would, if that's true. So don't tell him, if it's true, it'd just make him run away. Besides, I might be wrong. I'm just overthinking it.
She smiles a little, mischievieously. "Sorry about that."
Not really sorry. She knows her mice where only checking if Ziggy's still alive.
Allura looks at his forehead, somewhat wondering if it's analogous to markings on cheeks that all Alteans have. Ones that can get activated and act as conduits for Alchemy, though most Alteans won't even think much about it their whole lives, not being born with it or trained. Like some flightless birds wouldn't think of flying, even when having wings.
"I see."
Platt's happy at the greeting. He nuzzles him in greeting.
"Ray of sunshine, huh?" Allura asks. Or something of the kind. "That is, I think that's humans say. One of the Paladins once called me that and at first I thought he was mocking me."
She blushes a little.
"It's still so strange to me, right now, to know how he's doing without being there on Earth with him. I guess you could say I'm still getting used to having left my life. But that's alright."
"Oh. Don't tell HirokiShiro. He doesn't yet know I've departed, I think. And it'd be awkward if he ever asks me about future. We're both here anyway, so there's no such need."
Ziggy's simply easy to talk to, somehow. A little like his mother.
"Yes. It's amazing to have such a chance, and it's not to be taken for granted, ever. I do miss Lance, but I can feel him. He'll be alright, I believe."
"Also, I might now properly understand how Hiroki's feeling. I mean, regarding this sort of another chance at life. Partly. Because I'm the same way now. It's... a little difficult."
"But the most important important thing is being able to feel one's loved ones. Family."
